Happy New Year!

The past year was quite an adventure and very busy. The youth groups ran fundraisers, got the new program Scrip up and running, installed a new soda machine downstairs, went on fun events and gave back on a mission trip to New York where many memories were made. It was such a great year, but we know that 2012 will be just as amazing. In July, eight high school youth will be heading to New Orleans for the ELCA National Youth Gathering. They will have the opportunity to worship with 30,000 other high school youth and experience a culture that they have never seen before. The Youth Ministry Team has created many events for the upcoming year that we hope will encourage the youth in our congregation to continue building their relationship with God and will also allow them to do work that gives back to the South Milwaukee community.

The new verse that the ministry team and I will be focusing on this year comes from the third book of John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” We intend to work this verse into every event and activity that we plan for 2012 and hopefully teach the youth that walking with Jesus is one of the most important things they can do.
